Dog Licenses Required

Dogs are required to be licensed in Sandyston Township at the age of 6 months and older.. The fee is $10 for spayed/neutered dogs and $13 for unaltered dogs.  To license your dog, please provide a rabies certificate with an expiration date of at least November 1 of the licensing year as well as proof of spaying/neutering.  Dog license forms are available here.

Kittatinny Lake is a private lake community located within Sandyston Township.   They pay taxes to Sandyston Township and must follow Township ordinances and in addition to this, they also must adhere to the constitution and by-laws of this community as set forth in their deeds established many, many years ago.

Per Sandyston Township Code, Chapter 47 “Buildings, Numbering of”, as well as N.J.S.A 40:23-50, residents are required to have a VISIBLE house number by the road for 911 emergencies The color of the numbers shall be in sharp contrast to the background color and be constructed of reflective material to permit the identification during daylight and nighttime hours.

Signs can be purchased through the Sandyston Township Volunteer Fire Department and are $25.00 each.  The order form can be printed by clicking here.

Garbage/Recycling Collection

Garbage collection and recycling in Sandyston Township is not included in your taxes as as such is the responsibility of the homeowner to contract with a garbage collection company.  There are several garbage collection company's in Sussex County who will pick up your garbage and recycling and the information maybe obtained in a phone book or researching online.

You have the option of taking your garbage to the Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority located at 34 Route 94 South, Lafayette, NJ  07848.  Information may be obtained by calling 973-579-6998.

Exception:  Garbage Collection/Recycling included in the dues for the homes located within the Kittatinny Lake area of Sandyston which is a private lake community.  If you live in Kittatinny Lake, contact Associa Community Management Corp. NJ with questions.

Voter Registration

This is just a reminder to new residents to be sure that you register to vote and/or update your voter registration in a timely fashion when you move to Sandyton Township.  Voter Registration forms are available at the Sandyston Township Municipal Building or available online here.

The Voter Registration Form also allows you to change your name, address, signature or political party affiliation.  You then send the completed registration to Sussex County Board of elections, 83 Spring St., Suite 305, Newton, NJ 07860, or present the registration in person at the Board of Elections.  

Be mindful of the next Election and be sure to register and/or update your information immediately so as to avoid a situation of the inability to vote.
