Mayor Harper visits Sandyston-Walpack Consolidated School for Career Day

Mayor George Harper will tell you…..one of the best parts of his job is being able to interact with the youth of our community. Whether it is TREP$, Little Miss & Mister and Miss Sandyston contest, recreation, fire and town events AND when he is invited to Sandyston-Walpack Consolidated School for special events, he enjoys talking to the children and watching them grow through the years to adulthood.

On Friday, January 24, 2025, Mayor Harper participated in Career Day, hosted by the Sandyston-Walpack Education Foundation, at our beloved school to talk to the children about his role on the Township Committee, serving as Mayor, the many responsibilities involved, day to day operations and the different ways he works with the employees, our volunteer organizations, the community, local, municipal, county governments and officials and our legislators for the benefit of our town.

Mayor Harper was joined by other great speakers on many career choices like antique auto restoration jobs, job involving protecting the environment , respiratory therapist and healthcare jobs, farm, nursery and agriculture jobs ,hospice chaplain and responsibilities, lake and pond management jobs, veterinary jobs, postal service jobs, supply chain jobs, interior design jobs, corporate jobs, police jobs, and speakers talking about places and things to learn and being affective boss!

Mayor Harper enjoyed telling the children about his days spent at Sandyston -Walpack as a student and reminiscing about teachers and his favorite subjects! Our school is the heart of our community and these children are our future! Our school is also filled with hardworking and caring teachers and staff who do the best they can everyday for our children and community.

When asked if he enjoyed his day, Mayor Harper said “the children and staff were great! I had a blast. They asked lots of thoughtful questions and were excited to learn about our town and those who make up our community!”
